EAL
What is EAL?
The terms EAL (English as an Additional Language) and bilingual are often used interchangeably and both refer to students whose first language is not English. It is important to note that these terms are not related to the proficiency level of these students in the English language. Some EAL students may speak English as fluently as native speakers.
We warmly welcome students from diverse backgrounds and linguistic abilities. At the moment, we have 130 students from different countries: Nigeria, Thailand, Norway, Philippines, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Iraq, Syria, India, Ukraine, Vietnam, France, Italy, Portugal, China, Hungary, Lithuania, Romania, Afghanistan, Japan, and Turkey. We understand the unique needs of students who use English as an additional language.
Our student body comprises individuals from all over the world, who speak a range of languages including Igbo, Polish, Urdu, Vietnamese, Malayalam, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Ukrainian, Arabic, Russian, Pashto, French, Bengali, Japanese, Turkish, Hungarian, Mandarin, Thai, Shona, Albanian, Dari, Persian, Bemba, Ndebele, Kurdish, Yoruba, Filipino, German, Czech, Lithuanian, Tamil, Akan, Greek, Malay and Kashmiri.
